Will I need to bring money or can I exchange there?
Most visitors will be able to with- draw money easily, as the majority of ATMs accept foreign cards. In addition, hotels, larger restaurants and shops will accept VISA or Mastercard. Banks can exchange foreign currency and some will be open seven days a week. You may get a better exchange rate in your home country than you can in the airport.
I have some dietary restrictions. Will I be able to eat the Chinese food in Shanghai?
Chinese food is incredibly varied and many restaurants serve an extremely wide range of dishes, from spicy to plain and including meat, vegetables, fish and more. Most diets can be accommodated with- out having to forgo the pleasures of local food. As China’s most international city, Shanghai also has a wide selection of good-quality Western and non-Chinese food. Closer to the tournament, we will collect dietary and allergy information and incorporate it into our catering plans.
What will the weather be like? What about the air quality?
Spring is the best time of year in Shanghai. The weather should be temperate and sunny at around 15- 20 degrees Celsius, although a light jacket or thin sweater may be advisable in the evening. In addition, the famous cherry blossoms are on display from mid-March through mid-April. Air quality in large Chinese cities is an ongoing issue, but it poses much less of a problem during spring and summer, and our host school is situated outside the city center.
